About 学术顾问
Incoming first-year students and undecided transfer students receive academic advising support in the First Year Advising Center. Students beyond their first year in college are assigned an academic adviser in the school or college advising unit connected to their academic department.
While some advising units require students to meet with their assigned academic adviser each semester most students should schedule an academic advising appointment at least once a year.
In addition to an academic adviser, students have access to additional staff to support them, including those connected to special programs.
Advising for Special Programs
All students have access to a Career and Life Design Coach who specializes in their field of study. Career and Life Design Coaches assist students with exploring career interests, discovering customized strategies for gaining relevant experience and establishing industry connections. Students can also drop-in to the 职业工作室 to work alongside a Career Ambassador, 雇主, or 校友 on their resume, 求职信, or Handshake/LinkedIn profile.
All students with majors in the College of 艺术与科学 have a 指导教师 对于他们的专业. 教师 advisers are experts in their academic disciplines and offer advice about opportunities and events at OU and in the academic community. They can assist students in identifying career options, connecting to research opportunities and internships, and make recommendations on course options within the major.
Honors academic advisers help students integrate their 荣誉学院 requirements and their major requirements. They also help students create a plan to meet involvement and thesis requirements. Students in the 荣誉学院 are required to meet with an Honors academic adviser at least once a year.
协调员 Pre-Professional Advising assists pre-health students in understanding what it means to be a competitive applicant for health-related graduate programs. Students have access to workshops and information about test preparation, application preparation and interviewing.
